“Come near to God and God will come near to you,” James 4:8a

In addition to worshiping God because God is worthy, worship is about connection! Worship allows humanity a sacred space to connect with God. How amazing is it that the God of the universe wants to spend time with us? When we lean closer to God, God leans closer to us.

Worship is not a passive experience, it is an active one! When you listen to music, a sermon, or scripture do you let it go in one ear and out the other? I encourage you to slow down, take a breath, and intentionally engage your heart and your mind. Think about the Lord. Reflect on who God is and what God has done for you. Allow the scripture to wash over your mind as you think about it deeply. Ask the Lord to reveal Godself to you as you reflect. Take the time to connect with God in worship. Scripture promises us that God will show up when we ask for connection!
