Our two oldest boys are currently doing all virtual school from home due to the COVID19 pandemic. Come to find out, they have been “lying by omission,” by not being forthright about the amount of virtual schoolwork they’ve been completing. I bet you can imagine how well this went over when we realized the reality of how much work was missing and/or needed to be done as a result of this omission!
“For, whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.” 1 Peter 3:10-11
Lying is a huge issue for many people, including Christians. It can be tempting to lie when you think it will benefit you in some way, but we must remember sin will always ultimately have a negative effect on our lives. We will never get away with attempting to deceive others as God remembers all things.
It is easy to let little white lies slip into our everyday life believing they do no harm, but God asks for more from us and lying can be harmful to so many.
If you struggle with truth telling, as the Lord to help you. Being a truth teller requires a pure heart and a desire to please God, even when it may be difficult. But with God’s help, you can do it!
