John 15:15
No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

Proverbs 18:24
A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

What are the qualities you value in a good friend? For me I’d say a person of integrity, like mindedness, honesty, loyal, a good listener, encouraging, and fun to be around to name a few. I feel tremendously blessed to have several very good friends in my life who embody these characteristics. I also know that being a good friend requires that I live in to these values as well.

I’ve been told my whole life that Jesus is a perfect friend, the best friend I could ever have! Of course I believe this but I’ve found it hard to fully accept because Jesus is not physically present with me in person.

Today I imagined Jesus moving in next door. I thought about what it would look like to have Jesus as a neighbor. I imagined Jesus, in 2021 as my perfect friend. I thought about how Jesus would be everything and more that I could ever desire in a friend.

When I imagined Jesus as a physical man, I realized what a gift I had in him as a friend. Can you imagine if one of your current friends was everything that Jesus was? Woah. It is pretty amazing actually.

We have access to the perfect friend, but do we really take advantage of this? Picturing Jesus moving in next door has helped me relate to Jesus as my friend in a brand new way. How about you?
