A few years ago a friend of mine said to me, “Be gentle with yourself. Give yourself the grace you so naturally give to others,” and it really stuck with me.
Why do we tend to be the hardest on ourselves? Our inner monologue can be vicious! We are our biggest critics and it just shouldn’t be that way.
I read this quote today that inspired me, “Let whatever you do today be enough. Let go of the judgement you have about what you should be or could be doing today, and allow yourself to just be.” (Daniell Koepke, Daring to Take up Space)
What if you gave yourself permission to JUST BE today? How might your inner monologue change? Perhaps you would start talking to yourself in a kinder, gentler way.
Remember, Jesus calls us to love our neighbor as ourselves. How may we love others well if we do not love ourselves well?
