I had the opportunity to attend my cousin’s wedding recently. In a time where social distancing in required it felt very different than other weddings, but it was still quite the celebration!

“So God created man in his own image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, ‘be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:27-28

On the drive home I was reminded of the beauty of the gift of marriage. Marriage is the closest picture we have of God’s love for humanity. Our cuter often emphasizes the wedding more than the marriage, doesn’t it? But marriage is a lifetime covenantal commitment that ideally honors God through the union of two people.

God reminded me of the importance of praying for marriages. The enemy loves to attack marriages, as marriage is the foundation of families. That is why it is so crucial to lift of marriages to the Lord.

I encourage you to pray for marriages today – in general or for a specific marriage. Pray for your own marriage, your parent’s marriage, perhaps even your children’s marriage or future marriage. Your prayers are sowing seeds of faith that have impact on the kingdom of God!
