Ok. I’m going to be brutally honest here. Some times I get writer’s block.
From week to week I jot down things that the Lord is showing me that I think might be beneficial to others. God always is revealing Godself. I just need to pay attention! Some times God speaks in big ways and some times God speaks in small ways.
I can very easily get down on myself though, and think, “This is so trite. No one is interested in reading this. I have nothing new to say. People could read an entire book on this subject, why would they read this?”
In moments like that, the Lord reminds me of Ecclesiastes 1:9:
“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”
There is nothing new under the sun.
I felt the Lord whisper, “You may not have anything new to say, but humans are in constant need of reminding. If I’m reminding you, then maybe someone else needs reminding too.”
If you’ve been following Christ for a while, it is often rare that you truly hear something you’ve never heard before. However, have you ever heard a sermon that just spoke directly to you right where you were? Have you ever heard the perfect lyrics of a song exactly when you needed to hear them? Have you ever had a friend give you the precise word of encouragement that you needed right when you needed it? God is great at reminding!
I share all of this to say; you never know how God may use your story, your experiences or what he is teaching you. I love that we can read the bible over and over and over again and always learn something different. We are all a work in progress! If we’re not dead, we are not done.
So, while there is nothing new under the sun, we can partner with God in doing some powerful reminding!
Are you open to sharing what God is teaching you with others? Why or why not? What has God reminded you of lately?
