I can’t begin to tell you how often I hear that phrase as a Mom. Whether it is over the size of a cookie, amount of screen time or seat in the car – the phrase is usually accompanied with a sigh of frustration or even tears from a 10 or 13- year-old boy.

My husband and I respond by saying, “The sooner you learn that life is not fair, the better off you’ll be.”

Life isn’t fair. God never promises it will be. Each of us is on a different journey than anyone else in the world.

“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” Hebrews 6:10

Sometimes our most impactful ministry platforms are ones we wouldn’t choose. For example, I’m not sure anyone would willingly sign up to experience divorce, be a single Mom, or watch a loved one die from cancer. However, if we allow God to use our experiences, especially the painful ones, God will touch others for his kingdom! God doesn’t waste a thing, even things that seem unfair.
