Our older boys (11 and 13) love to have snowball fights outside with their Dad. I think they love the opportunity to pummel each other without fear of getting in real trouble.

Snowballs only get bigger by adding more snow to them. They don’t get bigger on their own. Have you ever rolled a snowball in the snow and watched it grow bigger and bigger and bigger?

Colossians 3:9-10
“Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.”

Have you ever noticed that if you tell a lie, you often have to keep lying in order to keep that lie going? Lies grow just like snowballs do!

A friend of mine use to say, “Sooner or later you get caught being yourself.” We just can’t sustain growing lies in our lives! Eventually, the truth becomes public.

When we foster lying in our lives – it grows!

But when we foster the fruit of the Spirit that can also grow! When we stay in step with the Spirit, and walk in submission to him, we allow his righteous to grow inside of us, instead of deceit.

What time of snowballing do you want to happen in your heart – lies that lead to destruction or truth that leads to further intimacy with God?
